THE ASBL Hainaut Waterways will definitively cease to be open to the public on March 31, 2026.
This decision marks the end of a human and collective adventure begun over two decades ago, in the service of the Canal du Centre historique and its exceptional sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A mission accomplished in the service of heritage
Since its creation, the ASBL Voies d'Eau du Hainaut has set itself the mission of discover our river and industrial heritage through tourist, educational and cultural activities.
Its teams welcomed several thousand visitors who came to discover the hydraulic elevators on the Canal du Centre historique, the Strépy-Thieu funicular elevatornot to mention the Ronquières Inclined Plan.
The last tourist season in 2025
The 2025 tourist seasoncurrently underway, will run until October 31, 2025.
This means that visitors can still take full advantage of cruises, guided tours and exhibitions on the various sites.
The Voies d'Eau du Hainaut teams remain mobilized to offer the public the best possible welcome right up to the close of the season.
